I know how difficult it is for me to balance all I do and still have time to write for pleasure. Good luck with your novel and keep me posted on your progress.

Comment on In the Zone

I know exactly how you feel. I can't stop thinking about my characters and what I'm going to have them do next. I can't wait to get out of school and get back to writing!

Comment on YA Literature Winner

Not Hugo Cabret. It is wonderful, isn't it? I meant Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. I loved it, but knew it would have trouble getting into libraries without an award to make it more acceptable for others.

Comment on Interesting Web Site

You're very welcome. Keep checking with my blog as I believe in the importance of sharing industry information. What did I like best about it? All those little graphs on the left that show what publishers have actually published and when. For instance, if you were shopping a middle grade science fiction on alternative fuel, many popular publishers might sound good for this, according to their descriptions in most directories. At Jacket Flap, though, you can at least weed out the ones that SOUND good... but haven't published anything except ABC picture books since before the Civil War. Which is a real time saver for writers AND publishers.

Then there were all those blogs -- loved the blogs -- what a bonus. Especially since they include people from all aspects of the children's book industry.

Many thanks for sharing this, Liza.

Ann

Comment on In the Zone

Why thank you for comparing me to such a well known writer. His Dark Tower Saga obsessed him for more than thirty years!
Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do for writers! I tell all my friends about you!

Comment on Award-Winning Authors

Welcome aboard, not only on my blog, but to the wonderful world of children's book writing. I suspect a lot is about to change for the book. And that's wonderful. Have librarians had trouble with the book?
